Activities and Clubs

Below are clubs and activities available at New Britton Elementary.

4th Grade Dance Club

This club is offered to 4th grade students only to promote and enhance student’s interest in creative dance and movement. Dance projects are incorporated into the New Britton Veteran’s Program and the 4th grade musical. This club meets most Wednesdays and some Fridays, September–March at 7:45am – 8:45am.

4th Grade P.E. Assistants

Students write a short essay as to why they want to assist with PE classes. Upon approval, they are assigned to one day a week, typically giving up recess to assist with first grade classes and/or help with other activity going on in the gym!

For more information, please contact Mrs. Jackson at djackson@hse.k12.in.us.

Art Club

Art Club is open to all first though fourth grade students who show an interest and love for art. Interested students will ask their parents to complete a permission slip that is sent home in November. A lottery process is held to select 25 students per grade level. These 25 students will stay after school (3:40-4:45) on two separate days (January-March) to complete one finished artwork. Often times these projects are more extensive than what we cover in class.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination is a HSE district-wide academic team for students in grades 3-12. Destination Imagination encourages teamwork, builds problem solving skills, and enhances creativity. It is hands on, engaging, and a great learning experience. Teams of up to seven members work together from September through March to create a solution to a Team challenge. Challenges may have a theatrical, structural, improvisational, scientific, service learning or technical focus. In addition, teams learn to develop creative answers for an Instant Challenge portion of the competition, which requires quick thinking skills. In March, teams from throughout the region come together to compete. Students also have the opportunity to advance to state (April) and global competitions (May). Visit the Destination Imagination site to get more information.

To organize, plan, and coordinate student involvement in community service projects. 2. To assist with special school projects. 3. To serve as an official good-will ambassador for the school. Student Council builds character and develops leadership, confidence, responsibility, organization, and teamwork. Student Council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 8:15 a.m.
